GIS, Information Management and Analysis

ELM’s GIS and environmental information management solutions facilitate insightful data analysis, displays and graphics that are key in supporting our clients' goals and securing regulatory approvals. ELM can incorporate information from a variety of sources including but not limited to laboratory analytical data, geophysical information, survey data, landscape and visual data (e.g., from small Unmanned Aircraft Systems, aka drones). This data can be integrated into a variety of useful formats and the addition of the sUAS enhances our ability to collect this data.

ELM has over 30 years of experience in designing, collecting and managing environmental data that can be linked to GIS and data analysis software to facilitate decision-making. Our solutions are based on the clients’ needs and utilize the most current technologies available that match the project objectives.

ELM can provide desktop, web-based, and mobile GIS solutions along with database design, geodatabase integration and spatial data creation and management.

ELM uses the ESRI suite of products, including ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Server, 3D Analyst and Spatial Analyst to facilitate our GIS solutions for many of our environmental clients.  ELM also utilizes Earthsoft's EQuIS software to manage large holdings of environmental data for many of our environmental clients.

The GIS, Information Management and Analysis services are coordinated by Bruce Reed. You can contact him at BWReed@elminc.com with any questions about these services.

small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS)

ELM now offers a variety of sUAS services to complement its existing site management services and tools.

sUAS technology provides for a cost-effective and safe way to collect information that otherwise would require more costly specialized equipment or higher commitments of staff time to provide similar information.

In-house sUAS technology provides numerous opportunities to support the needs of our clients in a time-efficient manner.

  • Improved capabilities in mapping, enhanced data displays, site plans, conceptual site models (CSM), tracking site conditions, and oversight of contractor activities.
  • Improved quantification of the progress of construction activities, progress of site and habitat restoration work, and cost-efficient integration of changing site conditions into CAD and GIS figures/graphics.

ELM's pilots are FAA Part 107 and OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certified. ELM's sUAS can routinely collect data and information including but not limited to:

  • Aerial Photography
  • Orthoimagery
  • Videography
  • Topographic Data for Landscape Depictions
  • Vegetation Surveys
  • 2D/3D Mapping
  • Infrastructure Surveys and Inspections
